Process of Compliance

Registration
Swimming pool and spa owners were required to register their pool/spa with their local municipality prior to 1st of November 2020 via Form 22. Failure to adhere to registration requirements could result in fines of up to $1642.20.

Inspection
Every registered swimming pool/spa owner must engage a registered building inspector to determine if the safety barrier is compliant with the applicable version of AS 1926 and issue the owner with Form 23.

Lodgement of Certificate
The owner is required to send the Form 23 to their local municipality for council records. No further action is required for another 4 years.
The following checklists will help the owner assess the safety of their barrier prior to inspection. These checklists are based on the relevant barrier standard associated with the date that the pool or spa was installed.
